Definition of EM

EM, an acronym for ‘effective microorganisms’, is a combination and cultivation of dozens of valuable microorganisms selected from the innumerous microorganisms that exist in the ecosystem. Yeast, lactic acid bacteria, and photosynthetic bacteria are the major bacteria that compose EM. Their complicated relationship of coexistence and co-prosperity creates a fermented product with antioxidants, which can be considered to be EM’s effects.
